Katie's love of gardening began as a small child, working alongside her mom in their garden in Southeastern, Pennsylvania. She nurtured this hobby as it flourished into a profession after studying in Longwood Gardens's Professional Gardener Program.

After completing her degree at Longwood, she became the Head Horticulturist of a private estate in Chester County, with an array of gardens including, vegetable  & herb gardens, cut-flower garden, English-style perennial gardens, shade perennial gardens, formal tree allée, bog, pond & stream areas, ruin garden, Calamagrostis ornamental grass maze, high-volume bulb displays, and multiple outdoor container arrangements.

In Spring of 2020, she oversaw the installation of a garden designed by world renowned garden designer, Piet Oudolf.  Leading up to install, she sourced over 100 genera (over 17,000 plants in total) domestically and internationally for Oudolf's garden. The success of this garden has brought immense joy and she is grateful for the experience and opportunity to work with Piet.

As a PG graduate, garden-tender of diverse private estates in the Southeastern PA region, and globetrotter of gardens abroad, Katie utilizes concepts cultivated from these three backgrounds in the landscapes and floral arrangements she create today.

When she is not working with Dalton in the garden, she enjoys baking, hiking, reading, and running wild outside with their two kids!

ABOUT DALTON

Dalton graduated from Penn State in 2006 with a degree completely

unrelated to his current field of horticulture. However, he did volunteer in a

cross-country farming program after graduation, where he gained an

appreciation for plants, and has spent most of his career working with

them in some capacity. Plants for food production, fermentation, and

now, with aesthetic applications. He was a

co-owner of an organic farm in Virginia, and has worked at various

wineries, breweries, and a distillery. Katie introduced him to the

world of horticulture, and his current interest is finding ways to

incorporate ethnobotanical plants into visually vibrant garden spaces. Dalton works full time as a lead foreman for Donald Pell Gardens (Phoenixville, PA), and is happy to join Copious Gardens on the side.

When Dalton is not working, he’s either in his

own gardens, making things, moving around, or getting goofy with Katie and their two silly kids!
